The Minister of Works, David Umahi, says in 24 months, all
sections of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway will be completed.
Senator David Umahi said this on Friday during an inspection
of the Abuja-Kaduna section of the highway.
The Minister, accompanied by the Minister of Finance and
Coordinating Economy, Wale Edun, explained that the government made the new
timeline after reaching an agreement with the contractor of the road, Julius
Berger Construction Company.
Recall that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government had given the contract in 2018 on a completion month of 36 months but was unable to fulfil its promise
.Umahi, however, blamed the delay on lack of funds, assuring
of the government’s commitment to end the road on time.
He said, “Julius Berger had agreed to complete 15 kilometres daily because the new date was agreed on.”
