Toke Makinwa celebrates appointment of ‘dad’ as NNPC board chair

Toke Makinwa, the media personality, has celebrated the appointment of Pius Akinyelure as the non-executive board chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

Akinyelure’s appointment was approved by President Bola Tinubu in November. The president also retained Mele Kyari as the group’s chief executive officer.

The appointments took effect from December 1.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Makinwa expressed excitement over Akinyelure’s new role at the company.

The television host and blogger referred to Akinyelure as “daddy and papa” while saying she is proud of him.

The radio personality also described him as the “man for the job”.

“Congratulations Daddy, I am so proud of you Papa. Chairman NNPC 💪 All your years of service to the oil industry, from Mobil to this. 💪 The man for the Job Very well deserved,” she wrote.

This is not the first time Makinwa will be congratulating Akinyelure on his appointment.

In 2020, Makinwa felicitated him after he was named as the company’s board member from the southwest region.

The entertainer previously recalled how a fire incident killed her biological parents when she was just 8 years old.

It remains to be seen if Akinyelure is her adopted father.

Makinwa started to gain attention in 2010 as a co-host of Rhythm 93.7 FM’s ‘The Morning Drive Show’.

She has been host to many notable events and shows such as the 2014 Headies Awards, Gulder Ultimate Search, and The Voice Nigeria.

She has also featured in several Nollywood movies including ‘Glamour Girls’, ‘Blood Sisters’, ‘Singing Sin’ and ‘Sugar Rush’.
