Davido, the
Afrobeats star, says he now charges $600,000 (an estimated N450 million) for a
music show.
In a chat with
Zahir Jooma, the co-owner of the jewelry store Icebox, Davido also said he
discusses with his team before taking the next step.
Davido said he tries to perform not more than four shows a
month — which earns him “about $2 million to $3 million”.
“I mean now shows are $600,000. Now it is less. Actually. Because fewer people can pay. If I do four shows in a month, $2 million, $3 million,” he said.
Davido’s influence has increasingly grown in the music space
in the over 10-year span of his music career.
The singer released ‘Timeless’
on March 31.
On April 10, the album secured the 37th spot on the United States Billboard 200
chart.
‘Timeless’ surpassed one billion streams
across major platforms on August 3.
The album is Davido’s fourth project. His three other bodies
of works are ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ (2012), ‘A Good Time’ (2019), and ‘A Better Time‘ (2020).
In December, the singer showcased his musical talent on a
global scale when he performed at
the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
On August 29, the Afrobeats star also thrilled the
audience at the 50th Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Awards
ceremony in Manchester, UK.
