Muhammed Idris, minister of information and national
orientation, says his ministry will inform Nigerians of the “true picture” of
the policies of President Bola Tinubu.
Idris spoke on Monday after the inauguration of the recently
appointed 45 ministers at the presidential villa, Abuja.
The new information minister said truthfulness is important
to give credibility to the various programmes and projects of the Tinubu administration.
He added that proper management of government information is
essential for the progress of the country.
“As a minister of
information and national orientation, I have the duty of telling Nigerians the
true picture of what transpired about the various programmes and projects of
the administration in all sectors,” Idris said.
“Being truthful and effective as minister of information is
essential to engender the trust of the people on various programmes and
projects of the administration.
“I cannot say that it is a thankless job because the
minister is only expected to truthfully disseminate the activities of the
government.
“If you do that, then
you are free with God and the people.”
Earlier on Monday, Tinubu swore in 45 ministers who were
recently screened and confirmed by the senate.
Speaking to the new ministers, the president asked them to
serve the country with “integrity, dignity and deliver” in their different
assignments.
Tinubu said the assignment before the ministers begins
immediately, noting that they must meet the expectations of Nigerians.
