Zamfara: Tension at INEC’s Gusau zonal office as security operatives threaten to shoot troublemakers

There was serious tension at the Gusau zonal office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the agents of the All Progressives Congress, APC, caused serious trouble after the returning officer declared Gusau Local Government result in the rerun election.

One of the APC agents, popularly known as Doctor, sensed that his party had lost in Gusau following the results and he began to make some utterances that offended the security operatives.

The security operatives, therefore, ordered everyone in the hall, including the journalists, to leave as some of them were set to shoot at sight.

However, the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in the State, declared openly that the working journalists in the State would not leave the hall even at gunpoint.

The results were delayed for some hours due to some friction that bred up due to the APC’s failure to capture the Senate and House of Representatives seats in the zone.

Even when counting resumed, many journalists were not allowed into the hall by the security operatives.
