Tinubu’s inclusion in Time Magazine’s “People of Influence” inspiring – Lawmaker

Timehin Adelegbe, a lawmaker representing Ose/Owo Federal Constituency of Ondo State, on Friday, hailed the inclusion of Bola Tinubu in Time Magazine’s 2023 Edition of its 100 world’s most influential people.

Adelegbe noted in a statement in Akure that Tinubu, the President-Elect, was listed among some world leaders that made the 2023 edition of the magazine on Thursday.

The American magazine said he had accomplished a “no easy feat” by winning the Nigeria presidential election after “nearly two decades” of preparation.

The Time Magazine’s list, now in its 20th year, recognised the activism, innovation and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals in their respective fields of human endeavour.

The lawmaker described Tinubu’s inclusion on the list as awesome and inspiring, adding that it was noteworthy that the president-elect was recognised for changing his world, regardless of criticisms and numerous challenges.

“In selecting the newly-elected president of Nigeria as one of its 100 most influential people of 2023, Time Magazine said winning the election in Africa’s most populous country was not an easy feat.

“Our own Jagaban had one of the most difficult presidential primaries in the history of party politics in Nigeria, came out of it, and emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“He eventually defeated three other candidates as he was declared winner of the 2023 presidential election which was held on Feb. 25 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” he said.

Adelegbe, a strong contender for Deputy Speakership in the coming House of Representatives said he had absolute confidence that Tinubu would utilise his wealth of experience to advance the cause of national development.

“On behalf of the good people of my Federal Constituency, I heartily felicitate with the president-elect.

“He is a man with a vision. He will harness available human resources in the country to further advance the collective development of our nation,” he said.
