Nnamdi Kanu’s US lawyer writes British High Commissioner to Nigeria, narrates IPOB leader’s ordeal

The United States, US, lawyer of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Bruce Fein, has narrated the ordeal of the Biafra agitator to the British High Commissioner in Nigeria, Richard Montgomery.

Fein informed Montgomery that the Nigerian Government placed Kanu in solitary confinement after he was allegedly kidnapped in Kenya.

In a letter congratulating him on his appointment, Fein called for a meeting to explore avenues to secure Nigeria’s compliance with the United Nations Working Group’s order for Kanu’s unconditional release.

The letter forwarded to newsmen by Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, recounted how the Nigerian Government attempted to assassinate Kanu in his home in 2017 due to his agitation for Biafra.

Fein also recalled how the UN’s Working Group on Arbitration Detention issues and Opinion ordered the Nigerian Government to release Kanu unconditionally and pay the IPOB leader reparations.

He insisted that the Nigerian Government was in contempt of the UN working group’s order.

“In June 2021, Nigeria conspired with Kenya to kidnap and torture Kanu in Nairobi followed by his extraordinary rendition to Abuja. There, Kanu has been detained indefinitely in solitary confinement without a trial by the Nigerian Government on concocted charges of treason.

“Your predecessor idled in lieu of confronting the Government of Nigeria with its legal obligation to release a U.K. citizen without tarry. Indeed, she relied on the lawless Fulani-controlled Government and Biafran quislings in the Southeast to accept Orwellian propaganda about Nnamdi Kanu and Biafra.

“I would respectfully request an opportunity to meet with you in Abuja to explore avenues to secure Nigeria’s compliance with the Working Group’s order for the immediate and unconditional release of Kanu. The time is propitious because of the impending change in the Nigerian Government and urgent because of Mr. Kanu’s rapidly declining health,” the letter reads.

Montgomery takes over from Catriona Laing who has been the UK’s representative in Nigeria since 2018.
