Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has cast his vote in the ongoing governorship election.

Sanwo-Olu cast his vote alongside his wife on Lagos Island on Saturday.

Addressing journalists after casting his vote, the governor said the election was about peace.

Expressing satisfaction over the turnout of voters, Sanwo-Olu said the people of the state have the right to vote their choice freely.

He said: “We are happy with the turnout of voters in this election, I was told INEC officials came right on time, and voting is on.

“I think it’s a time for us to see and understand that this process is not meant to be one of violence.

“Election that leads to a democratic process is the best form of validating what true democracy is all about.

“I want to reiterate again that this contest is about peace, progress, and prosperity.

“Everyone has the right to be able to advocate for everyone to freely express themselves freely, fairly, and transparently.

“I urge all our voters to be vigilant and if you see anything say and let’s all come out and express our right freely.”
