Invisible hand pushing for Russia-Ukraine war escalation – China

China has blamed an “invisible hand” for the protraction and escalation of the Russia-Ukraine war which started in February 2022.

Foreign Minister Qin Gang spoke on the sidelines of the annual session of the National People’s Congress while calling for further talks.

Qin called for the resumption of peace negotiation as soon as possible, and the respect of legitimate security concerns of all parties.

The official, however, described the conflict as “an eruption of the problems built up in a security governance of Europe”.

Qin said it has a complex history and complex reasons, observing efforts for dialogue have been repeatedly undermined.

“There seems to be an invisible hand, pushing for the protraction and escalation of the conflict and using the Ukraine crisis to serve certain geopolitical agenda.”

The minister warned that either hostilities stop, and the process of political settlement begins, or more fuel is added to the flames and the crisis expands.

China has denied providing weapons to its ally Russia amid the conflict. The Asian giant has not condemned Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
