Adamawa guber: PDP trying to disrupt collation of results because Binani is winning, says APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of trying to disrupt the collation of the gubernatorial results in Adamawa because Aisha Binani, the APC candidate, is leading.

So far, Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa and candidate of the PDP, is in the lead. While Fintiri has won 12 LGAs, Binani has secured seven.

In the early hours of Monday, APC and PDP agents rejected the Fufore LGA result, alleging that the results were fabricated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The result from Fufore is the only one left to be collated to conclude the exercise.

In a statement on Monday, Felix Morka, spokesperson of the APC, said INEC and security personnel must not allow themselves to be used by PDP to subvert the will of the people.

“We draw urgent attention of the chairman of the, INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, and our security services to massive thuggery, violence, intimidation and undue pressure by the PDP calculated to disrupt final collation and announcement of result of the governorship election in Adamawa state,” Morka said.

“The result of the election in Fufore LGA of the state must not be tampered with as Aishatu Dahiru (Binani) holds a clear, unassailable lead, only awaiting final collation and declaration by INEC.

“Nigeria is on the cusp of a major democratic record with the election and emergence of the first female Governor of a state in the country. We urge all well meaning Nigerians to stand together to protect and uphold this historic victory for women and our country.”
