UCL: Player’s health comes first – PSG manager Galtier on Messi, Mbappe

Paris Saint-Germain manager, Christophe Galtier, has provided the latest update on forwards Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe ahead of his side’s UEFA Champions League tie with Bayern Munich on February 14.

Galtier, who ruled out Messi and Mbappe for PSG’s French Ligue 1 clash with AS Monaco on Saturday, insisted that the player’s health comes first.

He also noted that Messi would be back for their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, while Mbappe is unlikely to be ready for the clash.

Galtier was quoted by RMC Sport as saying: “Regarding Kylian, the communication has been made. We spoke of a three-week unavailability. Kylian is undergoing treatment. Leo [Lionel Messi] has felt muscle fatigue, he will resume training on Monday. He is not uncertain for Bayern.”

When asked again about the possibility of Mbappe being back in the PSG squad for the Champions League next week, Galtier added, “The player’s health comes first. I will be very vigilant about the player’s health, especially as the season is still long.”
