Ime Bishop Umoh, the
Nollywood actor better known as Okon Lagos, has advised Nigerians to
accept the naira redesign to “avoid regrets”.
The film star took to Instagram on
Friday to urge citizens to stop the violent protests and embrace President
Muhammadu Buhari’s policy because “he knows what he is doing.”
The comic also said the naira redesign policy might be “one
good thing” Nigerians would remember Buhari for when he leaves office.
He argued that the naira redesign policy is not meant to punish the common man, but rather to ensure that Nigeria witnesses a free and fair election.
“You see this naira
redesign and enforcement policy, something tells me it is one policy that
Nigerians will say ‘Bring back our Buhari’ especially if God forbid, Obi
doesn’t emerge as President,” he said.
“The real people this policy is aimed at, are already
crying. The stockpile of cash for elections and vote-buying are in dollars,
1000 and 500 Naira denominations at least.
“Please let’s allow Buhari to fulfill his promise of free,
fair and credible elections. Let’s stop violence and follow his lead. Man knows
what he’s doing.”
The comic actor argued that some desperate politicians don’t
care about Nigerians. He also claimed their aim is to keep old naira notes as
legal tender to buy votes.
“Let it just be that N200, N100, N50, N20, N10 and N5 are
made available. It will be enough to satisfy the cash needs of every common
man,” he added.
“What these vote buying politicians have are the exact old
notes that are no longer legal tender (N1000 and N500).
“Guys chill let the elections finish. This fight isn’t aimed at punishing the common man. It’s aimed at delivering a fair election!”
The CBN has had as a top project in recent months the redesign and circulation of the N200, N500, and N1,000 notes.
But many Nigerians have since lamented that the newly introduced notes are hardly in circulation.

And u are very right, this is what Buhari will be remembered for, a free and credible election, with this new policy that can be guaranteed, and we know the policy is not meant to suffer the masses, but some corrupt politicians are the ones hijacking it so as to frustrate the governments and CBN. and as for that, #WESTANDWITHTHECBN/FGONTHISONE
