Ajibola Basiru, lawmaker seeking another tenure to represent
Osun central senatorial district on the platform of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), has lost the election.
Basiru is the spokesperson of the senate.
According to NAN, Ibrahim Usman, a returning officer of
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announced the results on
Sunday.
Usman said Fadeyi Olubiyi, candidate of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP), won the election which held on Saturday.
Olubiyi polled 134,229 votes to defeat Basiru, who scored
117,609 votes.
In another development, Adewale Muruf of the PDP won the
Osogbo federal constituency election.
Isiaq Egbewole, INEC returning officer, said Muruf polled 71,677 votes to defeat Abosede Ogo-Oluwa of the APC, who scored 58,992 votes.
