‘My photo was used without consent’ — Mr Macaroni disowns Peter Obi’s campaign flyer

Mr. Macaroni, the skit-maker, has disowned a picture of himself on a campaign rally flyer of Obi-Datti.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), and Datti Baba-Ahmed, his running mate, have been campaigning across Nigeria ahead of this month’s election.

In November 2022, the skit maker endorsed Obi as his presidential candidate of choice.

The comedian, however, said he will not participate in any campaign for any politician.

“I do not and will not campaign for politicians. I cannot force or beg any Nigerian to vote for a particular candidate,” he had said written.

“But come 2023, the person I will cast my vote for is Peter Obi! And that is final on this matter! Enough is Enough.”

But on Wednesday, a Twitter user had drawn his attention to the campaign flyer with his face on it.

“Thought @mrmacaronii said he won be campaigning for any party,” the user asked.

Reacting to the tweet, Mr Macaroni distanced himself from the campaign flyer picture, saying it was used without his approval.

“I will address this again for clarity sake. I am voting for Peter Obi because he is MY preferred choice,” he wrote on Twitter.

“It is my civic duty to vote but I’m not obliged to campaign for him or any other Politician. I am not against others who do so but this was put out without my consent!”

The development comes a few weeks after Wizkid also dissociated himself from a rumoured Obi concert.

Some other popular musical artistes have also openly declared their support for Obi.

Charly Boy had endorsed Obi as his presidential candidate for 2023.

Peter and Paul Okoye of Psquare, the music duo, have also pledged their support for the former Anambra governor.
