Basketmouth fixes foreign tour for Feb — despite dissing celebs who travel amid elections

Basketmouth is all set for a nine-city tour spanning countries outside the African continent.

The comedian recently announced his foreign tour for comedy, named “Basketmouth Unprovoked”.

The tour is expected to begin on February 12 in Manchester and end in Frankfurt on February 27, 2023.

According to the comedian, tickets to the comedy tour are selling very fast and are almost sold out.

  • February 12 – Manchester Academy 2
  • February 14 – Glasgow Glee
  • February 14 – Birmingham Glee
  • February 16 – Nottingham Glee
  • February 18 – Newcastle
  • February 19 – London Indigo2
  • February 23 – Zurich
  • February 24 – Stockholm, Sweden
  • February 25 – Hamburg
  • February 26 – Berlin
  • February 27 – Frankfurt

However, the comedian’s latest move seems to contradict his 2015 stance about entertainers and elections.

In a 2015 tweet, Basketmouth frowned at entertainers who exit the country during an election period.

The tweet, made during the  2015 electioneering season, weighed such entertainers side-by-side with other entertainment industry practitioners who campaigned for the Goodluck Jonathan government.

“Now I don’t know which celebs are worse, the ones that were out of the country during the election or the ones that campaigned for GEJ. Lol,” the tweet, which was an attempt at disapproving of both groups, reads.

It would seem that what was Basketmouth’s opinion from eight years ago has returned to hunt him.

The 2023 general election is to happen in February, at which time Basketmouth won’t be in Nigeria.

From his itinerary, Basketmouth will be in Hamburg, Germany cracking jokes on Election Day, February 25.

Fans have since been calling the comedian’s attention to the matter, although he is yet to respond.

One such fan wrote: “I’m here from the future just to tell you that you eventually became one of those celebs.”

“He dragged artistes who did a show in 2015. People are just reminding him,” was what another fan had to say.

A fan taunted the singer, asking: “What do we call the ones that fixed an event on the day of [an] election?”
