N-Power Funds: Why we invited ICPC for Probe – FG

The Federal Government has said it invited the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to unravel cases of fund diversion associated with the N-Power Programme.

Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Permanent Secretary, Dr Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, in a statement on Wednesday, said there have been some discrepancies in the payment processes of N-Power beneficiaries.

”The sharp practice were carried out by some personnel of the Payment Service Provider (PSP), hence the need to invite the anti-graft agency for a thorough probe.

“The matter was immediately referred to ICPC for investigation when we received information about some sharp practices by personnels of the Payment Service Provider involved in the payment processes of beneficiaries,” he said.

While confirming that some persons have been invited for interrogation as part of the investigations, the permanent secretary assured the Federal Government’s accountability and transparency in other National Social Investment Programme and the ongoing N-Power.

He said the Ministry had engaged other government’s agencies, Departments, Ministries and civil society organisations in monitoring compliance checks nationwide.

While urging the beneficiaries to apply themselves to their utmost at their Place of Primary Assignments, he assured them that the government would continue paying their monthly stipends as expected.

Sani-Gwarzo, however, called on Nigerians to report cases of irregularities about the programme.
