Insecurity: Ogun So-Safe deploys 1,000 men for Christmas, warns cultists

To forestall any breakdown of law and order during Christmas and New Year celebrations, the So-Safe Corps in Ogun State has deployed 1,000 personnel across the state.

A statement by the corps spokesman, Moruf Yusuf, disclosed that the deployment was based on multiple intelligence at the agency’s disposal, coupled with records of black spots in various communities in the Gateway State.

So-Safe Corps, the statement said, is determined to embark on an aggressive clamp down on criminally minded people, including cultists terrorising Ogun communities with guns, especially those working on getting more rifles for use during the 2023 electioneering period.

In the statement, the So-Safe Commander, Soji Ganzallo, assured Ogun residents that arms and ammunition in circulation would be mopped up, effective from December 18, 2022, to January 10, 2023.

Ganzallo also urged members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ogun “to take their time on various pulpits to instruct their followers to celebrate moderately and to ensure they follow all security and safety guidelines for safer and secure communities during the season.”

The corps commander informed that all zonal and area commands of the agency had been instructed to deploy their officers to strategic places, stressing that their intelligence operatives should be distributed appropriately to negate all forms of crimes before, during and after the Yuletide.

Ganzallo advised drivers and motorbike riders to limit their speed and exercise caution while coming in and out of the state.

He further asked that all suspicious activities, complaints and distress calls be directed to 08034681687, 09069392064 and 08035479930.
