I’m more concerned about the creative industry than my rivals -Atiku

 

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says he is more concerned about the creative industry than any of his counterparts in the 2023 presidential election.

 

The former vice-president spoke about his plans for the creative industry on Sunday during a town hall discussion organised by Channels Television.

 

Atiku said the creative industry is second to the agriculture sector to him in terms of creation of job opportunities.

 

“There is no doubt that the creative industry is second to agriculture as employment opportunity is concerned,” he said.

 

 “Agriculture has the highest rate of employment opportunity of our people followed by the creative industry. It is a very important sector of our economy.

 

“We had a robust discussion with the creative industry in Lagos two weeks ago. I committed myself to supporting the creative sector to make sure they play an even more significant role than they are today.

 

“I think nobody has been at the forefront, as far as the creative industry is concerned than myself. I don’t think any of my contemporaries in this race has engaged the creative industry as much as I have engaged them, both in 2019 and this year. Be rest assured that you’d have a friend in Aso Rock.”

 

On November 26, Atiku said if elected president, he will increase funds for the creative industry.

 

He also said he will reject the intervention of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in the creative industry and encourage private-public financial partnerships for the industry.
