Gov Fintiri’s convoy involved in another accident, 3 die, others hospitalised

Three people have died and one other is said to have a little survival chance following an accident involving a Toyota Hilux conveying vigilantes accompanying Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for a campaign in Adamawa State’s commercial town of Mubi.

The accident occurred at a community in Hong local government area called Fadamareke while the affected vehicle was negotiating a dangerous bend.

The three bodies, including that of Bako Kaura, head of PDP’s informal security arm and another victim identified as Adamu, Kaura’s biological son have been deposited at the mortuary of Hong Federal Medical Centre, a source disclosed.

Five other occupants in the van who also sustained injuries were conveyed in the Government House ambulance and another unmarked Hilux van, for treatment in the health facility.

Nine people were said to have been in the ill-fated van.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who also helped to coordinate rescue activities was said by those close to him to have been disturbed by the deadly crash in his convoy.

This is the second time in about a week that his convoy would suffer this fate.

Only last week, Governor Fintiri himself narrowly escaped death when a truck which lost control almost rammed into his stationary motorcade within the Yola capital metropolis.

The offending truck had crashed into two vehicles in the convoy and caused injuries to two policemen who had to be rushed to the intensive care unit of the state Specialist Hospital in Jimeta.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State, SP Suleiman Nguroje could not be reached for comment on the latest incident at press time Thursday afternoon but a dependable security source affirmed that the convoy crash did happen and that three people died.
