Why we celebrated your removal as APC National Chairman – Wike opens up to Oshiomhole

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has opened up to the former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, about how members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, celebrated his (Oshiomhole) removal.

Wike, who spoke on Wednesday in Port Harcourt during the inauguration of the Rumuepirikom Flyover in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state, said Oshiomhole was a threat to the main opposition party.

Oshiomhole was in Rivers on Wednesday to commission the project executed by the Rivers governor.

According to Wike, the removal of Oshiomhole by the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court on March 4, 2020, was a relief for the opposition party, stressing that they are now comfortable.

The governor, however, lamented that some Nigerian political bigwigs always move to sabotage competent leaders.

He said, “Nigerians don’t like anything that is too straight. They will find a way to circumvent it to make sure the person who wants to do the right thing is taken out, but God’s time is the best, and I believe that is God’s time.

“If God didn’t sanction it, it won’t have happened even though we were very happy because you were too strong for us.

“Sometimes the opposition doesn’t know what to say again. So, the day you were removed, we said God thank you that this trouble man has gone. He has given us a lot of heat. You can see how comfortable we are now.”

Governor Wike had severally invited stakeholders of the ruling party to commission projects in the state amid the leadership crisis rocking his party, PDP.

His Lagos State counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was in the state on August 8 to commission the Orochiri-Worukwo flyover in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
