Phyna, Bella, Bryann… who will win #BBNaija’s N100m prize?

The much-awaited Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) season seven finale is here.

From unending twists, heated confrontations, and situationships, the ‘Level Up’ edition has witnessed exciting and nervy moments.

But none of these moments is as crucial as the finale holding later today.

Six housemates are up for the N100 million grand prize — the highest since the show debuted in 2006.

Who will win it?

We examine the show’s finalists and their chances of clinching the grand prize.

Phyna

There are signs this could be Phyna’s year. The 25-year-old, born Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, is dominating discussions ahead of the finale.

According to statistics by Future of Work Africa, the data analytics training and consulting firm, the stand-up comedian and actress is the most-talked-about housemate on Twitter in the finale week.

The data, which examined a number of Twitter accounts, tweets, and total retweets about the housemates, showed Phyna led the chart from Monday to Thursday.

The graduate of engineering from the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi boasts of an active fanbase known as ‘Phynation’.

This can be seen in the number of times she has survived eviction in the house.

Data by Future of Work Africa showed the skit maker was nominated for eviction on four occasions but her huge fanbase always came to her rescue.

This makes her one of the six finalists who survived evictions for this year’s edition of the show.

Her ‘annoyingly loud‘ personality may not sit well with many like Tega, the housemate in the 2021 edition, but it has put her within touching distance of the show’s biggest prize.

Phyna’s stint on the show was dominated by talks over her relationship with Groovy, a fellow housemate.

She also made the headlines for becoming the head of house (HoH) in the eighth week and her clash with Hermes.

In 2019, Mercy Eke became the first female housemate to win the show.

Will Phyna become the second lady to win the BBNaija grand prize? Time will tell.

Bryann

Bryann, born Brian Chkuwuebuka Chiji, is another housemate leading the race for the N100 million grand prize.

The 22-year-old singer and songwriter may not be in the news for controversial reasons like his colleagues but he has managed to win the hearts of many lovers of the show with his calm personality.

Like Phyna, Bryann survived evictions on four occasions — an indication that he has a strong support system.

He is also among housemates mostly talked about on social media.

That’s not all. Bryann has the backing of top celebrities like Obi Cubana, the socialite.

In a recent Instagram post, the nightlife promoter enjoined his fans to vote for the singer, who he referred to as “my kid brother”.

Bella

Bella may not have started the show on a high note but her journey to the finale has demonstrated that the end justifies the means.

The 25-year-old, whose real name is Chidimma Okagbue, was in the news on several occasions over her relationship with Sheggz.

If the relationship — docked by back-and-forth — turns out to be a strategy to win the show, then it will be a perfect script.

The graduate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) once claimed fans of the show were giving her the impression that “they don’t like me and want me to leave”.

But making the cut for the finale shows she is not an underdog in the race for the grand prize.

Just like Phyna and Bryann, the content creator escaped eviction four times.

She is also one of the housemates dominating discussions on social media.

Daniella

At first, it seemed the eviction of Khalid from the show would also mark the end of the road for Daniella Peters.

Daniella was at the receiving end of heated backlash over her intimate moment with the NFT collector.

But she proved her doubters wrong by making it to the finale.

As a poet, Daniella dazzled BBNaija’s audience with her creative prowess during tasks and survived two evictions.

Chichi

In a largely conservative country like Nigeria, bragging about being a stripper openly requires some guts.

Chichi’s first attraction to fans on the show was her occupation as an exotic dancer. But the 22-year-old has proven that a book shouldn’t always be judged by its cover.

That she became the HoH in week nine didn’t come as a surprise to many.

With sheer bravery and intelligent displays during tasks, she has achieved one of her aims on BBNaija — “to show people there is more to being a stripper than meets the eye”.

Chichi, real name Chinenyenwa Desire Okoebor, survived one eviction.

It remains to be seen if she can outwit other finalists to win the grand prize.

Adekunle

Surviving three evictions on BBNaija requires a strong fanbase.

That Adekunle pulled that off shows he should not be written off in the race for the grand prize.

The 27-year-old, whose real name is Adekunle Tobilola Olopade, will again be counting on his fans to deliver when it matters most.

Will they turn up for him?
