Europa League: Why PSV defeated Arsenal 2-0 – Mikel Arteta

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has explained why his team was defeated 2-0 by PSV Eindhoven in Thursday’s Europa League tie.

Arteta watched as PSV defeated Arsenal at Philips Stadion.

Joey Veerman and Luuk de Jong scored the goals for PSG against the Gunners.

Speaking at his post-match press conference after the game, Arteta said that Arsenal did not have the consistency for 95 minutes to maintain the level they wanted during the tie.

According to him, his team were poor against the host and did not have aggression against PSV.

“I don’t know. We have periods where we have been excellent and periods where we have suffered. For sure, we have not had the consistency for 95 minutes to maintain the level we want. That’s the next challenge and the next aim for this team,” Arteta said.

“Today, I think it was very different, right from the beginning. Even though we had periods where we controlled the game, I didn’t feel that we had the threat and the aggression that we have been playing at.

“That was worrying. In the second half, the moment something went wrong, we just went down, and we didn’t really find moments to give us some hope to react and get something out of the game. Today we were extremely poor,” the Spaniard added.
