Condemning government’s modest efforts act of witchcraft – Gov Udom’s aide

The Special Assistant on Media to Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, Revr’d Richard Peters, has said it is a show of witchcraft for some persons to condemn genuine and modest efforts of government in building projects for the good of its people.

Peters stated this on Tuesday following the criticisms by some members of the opposition that the newly commissioned 29km dualized Etinan-Ndon Eyo road in the state does not have the two bridges hanging on cables as reported.

The governor’s aide condemned the level of ‘destructive criticisms’ in the state and warned perpetrators to desist forthwith or face the consequences.

He wondered why some persons would maliciously criticize projects that have brought about economic benefits and development to the people just to score a cheap political goal.

His words, “I think this has gone beyond mere criticism to wickedness, criticism helps to keep the government in check on what they have not done and not what has been successfully done and the majority of the people are benefitting from.

“Udom Emmanuel’s administration commissioned a 29km road with two cable bridges, and some people, due to political affiliation, sponsored falsehood on the Internet against the Governor saying that the bridges are not hanging on the cables.

“How does their falsehood answered the fact that the road that was impassable before now has free flow of vehicular and human movement? Looking through the memory lane, political sentiments seems to take away that sense of reasoning from some people as they condemn almost every efforts of government.”

He attributed the criticism by the dissidents to the disappointment they faced in gov Emmanuel’s success in the execution of projects despite the current economic meltdown.

”Ever since the inception of this administration, there are people who never believed in the achievement of his Excellency that the governor could achieve what he has achieved,” he added.
