Ignore purported attack on Peter Obi – Aide, Obienyem

Media aide to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Valentine Obienyem, has dismissed the purported attack on his principal in Abuja.

He asked supporters to ignore the falsehood making the rounds on the internet that Obi was attacked.

The rumour picked up steam shortly after Festus Keyamo, the spokesperson for Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign, alleged a plan by Obi to stage manage his assassination in a press release.

Obienyem disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Monday, saying Obi was hale and hearty.

Part of the statement read, “Kindly ignore the falsehood making the rounds that Obi was attacked. May God forbid even the very thought of such barbarism be visited on him.

“Obi has consistently reiterated his belief that politics should always be devoid of violence; this remains his political credo.

“We shall continue to entrust Mr Peter Obi into the protection of the Almighty while he ensures he is adequately protected from seeing through the work of re-building Nigeria that providence has entrusted unto him.”
