Gov Emmanuel decries level of moral decadence among youths

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel has decried the level of moral decadence in the society, especially among the male folks.

He called on parents, teachers and religious leaders to put more effort in training the children, particularly the boys.

The governor also commended the Family Empowerment Youth Re-orientation Pact Initiative, FEYReP on its efforts in changing the narrative through advocacy and other life touching projects.

Governor Emmanuel, who stated this on Friday at the seventh anniversary celebration of FEYReP in Ibom Hall, Uyo applauded his wife for standing in the gap for the less privileged and expressed satisfaction on the impact she has made in the past seven years.

He assured FEYRep, which is the wife’s pet project, of his unwavering support on the ongoing fight against Gender-Based Violence, even as he expressed disappointment over sexual abuses by parents against children.

His words, “The high level of moral decadence in our society is worrisome and parents, religious organizations and traditional institutions should rise to the responsibility of training the children, especially boys, as this would help curb the menace in the society.

“I will continue to support her Excellency in her ongoing fight against Gender-Based Violence in the State.”

Speaking earlier, Her Excellency, Dr Emmanuel expressed commitment to rendering support to indigent families, youth re-orientation and fight against GBV.
