Umar Sani, a former Senior Special Adviser on Media and
Publicity to Vice President Namadi Sambo, has hit out at Lai Mohammed, the
Minister of Information and Culture, for claiming that Atiku Abubakar, the
presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is copying the
economic blueprint of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
Sani said that Mohammed’s statement was laughable, adding
that he lacked ideas.
He disclosed this on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Friday.
On Thursday, Mohammed, while speaking with newsmen at the
national press centre in Abuja, accused Atiku, who recently spoke his economic
blueprint at an event in Lagos, of copying the present administration under
Buhari.
According to Mohammed, no one apart from the Federal
Government understands the blueprint of which Atiku claims ownership.
“It is very amusing and laughable for APC to talk or Lai
Mohammed to talk about any economic blueprint. We are almost on the verge of
the closure of the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari and how has our economy
fared for us to continue to steal their own blueprint? First and foremost,
every economic index that ought to have been broken and our economy is almost
totally near collapse,” Sani said.
“Even recession is around the corner. Again Nigeria during
the PDP was an investment destination. Now investors are running away from the
country. Nigeria had the highest GDP. Everything economic in Nigeria was
perfect during the PDP. The exchange rate was good, the micro and microeconomic
were perfect, and yet somebody will begin to talk about stealing your
blueprint. Which blueprint do you have that is unable to transform the
economics of Nigeria, and that is plugging Nigeria into chaos?
“I think they are lacking in ideas, they are lacking in
thought, and so they want to blame PDP for everything. it is their usual
tradition to blame PDP, and so using this one to say we stole their blueprint
is just a mockery of the performance of their budget.”
