The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has boasted about the fact that he is still standing among the several candidates that came out for the presidential race in the 2019 elections.
Sowore said he was still standing because he never stopped talking to Nigerians on those issues he had earlier raised about governance, policy, and economy.
The AAC standard bearer was speaking on Channels Television, Friday night, on the programme tagged ‘Politics Today.’
Sowore said there were a lot of big parties in Nigeria which did not bring the right values to Nigeria and they had faded off, adding that his party, the AAC, was a party ready to pull Nigerians out of poverty and misery.
“There are a lot of big-for-nothing parties in Nigeria, ours is a contact party that is focused on pulling Nigerians out of poverty and misery. I do not consider big parties on the basis of size, I consider them on the basis of relevance and importance and value that they bring to the country,” Sowore said.
“We used to have big parties in this country who boasted that they would be around for 60 years, and overnight they were defeated.
“I don’t want conversations to surround the mathematics of size but it should be the mathematics of relevance and contents.
“Our party came into existence in August 2018, there were 29 parties formed on that day. You probably haven’t heard about any one of them. There were a number of presidential candidates in 2018 and 2019 that came. I’m probably the only one who is around today because I never stopped doing what I’ve always spoken to Nigerians about – that the issues are more important than the people who are in these parties and the money that they have,” the human rights activist cum Founder of Sahara Reporters said.
