Onanuga, Alake, Keyamo to head media directorate of APC presidential campaign

Bayo Onanuga, a former managing director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Dele Alake, a former commissioner of information in Lagos state, and Festus Keyamo, minister of state labour and employment, will head the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council.

While Onanuga was appointed director of media and publicity, Alake was announced as director of strategic communication.

The former Lagos commissioner held this same position when President Muhammadu Buhari sought reelection in 2019.

In a statement on Sunday, Onanuga said Festus Keyamo, minister of labour and employment, who was earlier announced as the spokesman of the campaign council would continue in that role.

The former NAN MD said Lanre Issa-Onilu, a former spokesperson of the APC, was appointed as deputy director of communication strategy.

He said Hannatu Musawa, Kehinde Bamigbetan and Modibbo Kawu would serve as deputy director of public affairs, deputy director of media relations and deputy director of media and publicity respectively.

“While Mohammed Bulama will be in charge of multimedia, Seun Olufemi-White will be the deputy director [of] new media,” he said.

“The tripodal arrangement, the first in a presidential campaign, has a line of other assistant directors and senior officials, representing the nation’s various regions with job specifications spelt out.

“The campaign structure will also soon unveil representatives and spokesmen in all the states of the federation.”

With the structure approved by Bola Tinubu, APC presidential candidate, the media directorate has three departments – media, public affairs and strategic communication.
