VIDEO: Funke Akindele meets Lagos PDP candidate amid running mate rumour

Funke Akindele, the Nollywood actress, has met with Olajide ‘Jandor’ Adediran, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, amid rumours that she had been picked as deputy.

In a now-viral video on Wednesday, the film star is seen with Jandor as the party’s supporters attempted to take photos with them.

It is understood that they were on a campaign trip to Ikorodu, the actress’ hometown.

NigerianEye earlier reported that the movie star is beingconsidered as the party’s running mate for Adediran.

Akindele is said to be on top of a list — which comprises four other names — as potential running mates for Jandor.

“Funke Akindele hasn’t been confirmed as Jandor’s running mate. Funke is one of the five nominees to be Jandor’s running mate,” Gbenga Ogunleye, head of media and communications of the campaign organisation for Adediran, had said.

“She was nominated alongside four other people, whose names are Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Kolawole Vaughan, Adenike Shobajo and [Rasheed] Teslim-Balogun. Jandor has not named anyone as his running mate yet.”

The internet was, however, inundated with conflicting reports on Akindele’s emergence as Adediran’s running mate.

While some news platforms reported that Adediran had settled for Akindele as his deputy, others quoted the PDP’s governorship candidate as denying the speculations.

The movie star is also yet to officially announce — on her social media platforms — if she has been nominated as the PDP’s deputy governorship candidate.

The development comes a few days after Akindele — who is very vocal on social media, most especially Instagram — saw her marriage to JJC Skillz crash.
