Turbaning of bandit: Ohanaeze demands Nnamdi Kanu’s release

The youth group of apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has again demanded the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from detention.

Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has been in the custody of the Department of State Services, from where he is undergoing trial.

However, Ohanaeze while reacting to the turbaning of a wanted bandit in Zamfara State, said the government had no justification to continue holding on to Kanu.

It also lampooned the Federal Government over the continuous murder of priests and other Nigerians by bandits.

Ohanaeze said in the statement signed by its National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike that if a wanted bandit could attend a social function in Zamfara State, where he was given a chieftaincy title, the government had no choice but to free Kanu.

“What is the justification, the rationale behind the continuous detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu?” He queried, adding that “we are talking of a notorious wanted bandit who has killed people in their numbers.

“Yet, he attended an open event, was turbaned, but was not arrested by security agencies who claimed to have been looking for him. This is totally unacceptable.

“Security agencies were quick to track Nnamdi Kanu to as far as Kenya but a wanted bandit came to their doorstep and left unnoticed? This is most curious to say the least.

“It is for this reason that we demand the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu whose only sin is that he is demanding the freedom of his freedom who are being treated as slaves.

“This is the same Federal Government that has proven its incapacity to protect the masses, leading to mass murder of hapless Nigerians, with priests major targets of late.

“Unashamedly, the government is still displaying double face in dispensing justice. This is no longer acceptable and this is why we are demanding that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu should be freed unconditionally,” he said.
