Super Falcons boss, Waldrum apologizes to Nigerian journalists over negative comment

Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, has apologized for his unsavoury statement against the Nigerian media.

The American tactician laid into the Nigerian media following Nigeria’s 2-0 win against the Mares of Botswana at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations on Thursday night.

The Super Falcons lost their opening game in the competition against Banyana Banyana of South Africa 2-1 and were roundly criticised for their poor display in the encounter.

Waldrum mentioned something about the Nigerian media being ‘negative’ but has withdrawn the statement after he was cautioned by the Nigeria Football Federation.

“The comments are regrettable and I withdraw them in entirety. Actually, I will say the statement did not come out the way I intended,” he told thenff.com.

“I hold the media everywhere, including Nigeria, in high regard and I only wish they could be a little more empathetic to us when we lose or draw matches.”

The Super Falcons will take on Burundi in their final Group C game on Sunday.
