The Osun State Governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke has attributed his victory in the recently concluded Osun gubernatorial election to the courage, determination and goodwill of the people of the state.

Adeleke disclosed this on Wednesday at the official presentation of the Certificate of Return in Osogbo.

The governor-elect also said the determined Osun electorates ensured that the stolen mandate was retrieved.

While promising that he would not take the trust bestowed on him by the people for granted, he called on them to look forward to a bright future.

In his opening address, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Supervising National Commissioner for the Osun 2022 guber poll, Professor Kunle Ajayi described the election as the most anticipated for the year.

Professor Ajayi also noted that the description became so because it was the next election after the Ekiti guber poll which was viewed by all with caution.

In his words, “However, with the successful completion of the Osun State Governorship election, the Commission would like to assure Nigerians that this has become the standard of election management in Nigeria.”

On his party, the Osun INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Abdulganiy Olayinka Raji disclosed that the Osun gubernatorial election was conducted with the utmost credibility.

Professor Raji emphasised that Nigeria’s democracy will be stronger if the right thing is done at the right time.

“Osun State Gubernatorial Election has come and gone but I need to reiterate these points that our democracy will be stronger if we come together to do the right things such as campaigning with fulfilable promises, modelling positive attitude and behaviour while in office, fulfilling campaign promises, doing away with money politics, electorates are not asking for too much, just basic amenities to make everyday life easy and enthronement of internal democracy within the Political Parties.

“Abiding by these steps will not only make life easy for INEC but also ensure hitch-free electoral processes,” he added.
