‘APC paid me to support Tinubu, allow me do my job’ — Portable hits critics

Portable, the fast-rising Nigerian singer, has claimed the All Progressives Congress (APC), paid him to support Bola Tinubu, its presidential candidate, ahead of the 2023 election.

The singer, born Habeeb Okikiola, had earlier visited Gboyega Oyetola, governor of Osun state, during which he backed his re-election bid.

During his meeting with Oyetola in Osogbo, the state capital, he had endorsed Tinubu for president.

He also flaunted money believed to have been given to him by Oyetola in a now-viral video.

His action had elicited a chorus of condemnation on social media, with many Nigerians calling him out.

But in a follow-up video via his Instagram page, Portable hit back at his critics.

The ‘Zazoo Zeh’ crooner claimed he was paid to support the ex-Lagos governor for president, adding that his critics should allow him to do his “job”.

Portable also claimed that he was once paid to insult Tinubu.

“I was once paid to insult Tinubu, but that was a long time ago. Now, I have been paid by APC to support Tinubu and I will do so. If you are paid to do something, do it well… it’s Tinubu’s turn. I must do the job which they paid for,” he said.

APC is yet to react to his claim as of the time of this report.

Tinubu is seeking to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

He will slug it out Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP), alongside other aspirants for the country’s highest office.
