Netflix announces ‘Squid Game’ reality show with $4.56m prize

Netflix has announced a reality show based on ‘Squid Game‘, the South Korean survival drama.

‘Squid Game’ tells the story of a contest where 456 players are drawn from different walks of life.

Deeply in debt, they play children’s games with deadly penalties for those who lose. The sole aim is to win ₩45.6 billion.

On Tuesday, Netflix announced the contest which it said would be its biggest social experiment.

It called on viewers to enter to be a part of the contest to compete for $4.56 million prize money.

“With the largest cast in reality TV history, 456 real players will enter the game in pursuit of a life-changing cash prize of $4.56 million. Do you have what it takes to win Squid Game?” the streamer stated.

“For this round, the Front Man is in search of English-language speakers from any part of the world.

“The stakes are high, but in this game, the worst fate is going home empty-handed.”

Following its release, ‘Squid Game’ quickly became a global phenomenon. It became Netflix’s biggest series ever.

Reports had claimed that Squid Game’s dystopian world, where marginalised people are pitted against one another with the losing players put to death, resonates with North Koreans in risky occupations and insecure positions.

The announcement comes a few hours after Netflix teased a second season for the survival drama series.

If you think that you have what it takes to win ‘Squid Game’, the recruitment for the show is open now at SquidGameCasting.com.
