I won’t leave APC – Ibadan chief, Adegoke after losing senatorial ticket


An Ibadan Chief, Oloye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, has disclosed that he will not leave the All Progressives Congress (APC), even though, he could not secure the senatorial ticket of the party.


Adegoke, who doubles as Aare-Onibon Balogun of Ibadan land made this disclosure while speaking in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.


Recall that Adegoke was one of the aspirants that contested the recently held senatorial primary election of APC in Oyo South Senatorial District.


Our correspondent recalls that the result of the primary election was not announced due to overvoting.


Adegoke later pulled out of the primary election when it was announced that a rerun was to be held.


He stated that his decision to opt out of the re-run primary election was to protect his integrity.


Adegoke has, however, disclosed that he will not leave the APC, although he failed to secure the ticket.


The APC chieftain who spoke when he addressed some of his supporters on Thursday, said that he will work with other APC stalwarts to reclaim the state in 2023.


He also used the medium to congratulate the APC presidential candidate, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over his victory at the primaries.


He said, “I want to tell you that I remain a formidable member of APC, so that when some people are firing political guns, you will let them know that we are going nowhere, we remain in APC to work as a team to take Oyo APC to next level by coming out victorious in 2023 election.


“I want to encourage you that we still have lots of programs, lives ahead of us. God has his own plan for us, that is not the end of our political project because I still have lots plans ahead of me and I know God has a lots of plans for me as well.


“Probably I know some of us were bitter with what happened but I am not bitter at all, that’s why I need to get all of you together to dance away that bitterness. Senatorial primary is just the beginning and we must all work together as team to win Oyo state for APC both at state and presidential elections.


“I want to use this opportunity to all congratulate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the APC presidential primary election, which shows his tenacity, commitment and a fulfilment of life ambition.


“You are bridge builder, leader of leaders, dogged fighter, an achiever who has the wherewithal to pursue what you believe in, which earn you the name, master strategist”.
