The national working committee (NEC) of the Peoples
Democratic Party has shifted the date for the conduct of its governorship
primaries across the country.
The gubernatorial primaries were scheduled to take place on
May 21.
In the updated timetable, the PDP said the governorship
primaries will now take place on May 23.
The opposition party also adjusted the dates for state and national assembly primaries as follows:
- State house of assembly (state constituency congress): Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
- House of representatives primaries: Friday, May 20, 2022.
- Senatorial district primaries: Saturday, May 21, 2022.
The PDP said the postponed LGA congresses to elect national
delegates for the presidential primaries will now take place on May 10.
“All aspirants to various positions, critical stakeholders,
members of our party across the country as well as relevant agencies of
government should please take note,” Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, said in
a statement.
The national executive committee (NEC) of the PDP is
expected to meet on May 10 to discuss issues affecting the party, including
zoning of its presidential ticket.
