Delta 2023: It’s false – Okowa replies Omo-Agege over alleged N2bn monthly expense on appointees

Ahead of the 2023 elections in Delta State, Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa has replied to the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, on the allegations that he spends N2 billion monthly on his political appointees whereas the teeming youths are unemployed with many of them riding commercial motorcycles and tricycles.

At a quarterly media interaction held at the Government House, Asaba, Okowa said the allegation was untrue, saying it is “most unfortunate”.

The governor, who was flanked by the Commissioner for Information, Mr Ehiedu Charles Aniagwu; and Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, Delta State Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, urged critics of his programmes and policies to be factual with their claims.

He said nothing would derail him from fulfilling all his electioneering campaign promises to the people of the state just as he cautioned political office holders to at all times, speak truth to power irrespective of party affiliations.

It would be recalled that Omo-Agege at the declaration of his interest to be the next governor of the state had alleged that Okowa spends N2 billion monthly on his political appointees who contribute nothing to the state with pensioners not being paid their gratuities and youths unemployed.s
