War: Zelensky reacts to UK’s promise to supply lethal weapons to Ukraine

Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky has reacted after the United Kingdom promised to supply his country with lethal weapons to help them wage war against Russia.

The UK on Saturday, after the visit of Prime Minister Boris Johnson to Kyiv, said it would supply Ukraine with lethal military equipment to fight Russia.

This is, however, against Russia’s earlier warning that any country, especially in the European Union that provides lethal weapons to Ukraine during the ongoing war, would face the consequences of such action.

UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss tweeted that the UK is sending additional “lethal aid” to Ukraine, including “120 more armoured vehicles; new anti-ship missile systems; and $130 million in high-grade military equipment.”

During his Saturday night’s address posted to Facebook, the Ukrainian President said Prime Minister Boris Johnson was one of the world leaders who has wholeheartedly decided to help Ukraine.

“[I thank] the leadership of Great Britain, in providing our country’s help in defence and also leadership in the sanctions policy, will always be in history.

“Ukraine will always be grateful for this to Boris and Britain,” Zelensky said.

This came after Johnson made a surprise visit to Zelensky in Kyiv on Saturday to outline the UK’s plan to provide further financial and military support.
