Do self-assessment before paying for nomination forms – Akeredolu warns aspirants

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has admonished aspirants in the state seeking various political positions to assess themselves thoroughly before buying the nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to Akeredolu, those seeking reelection will be judged at the polls by the people according to their previous performance.

The governor specifically warned serving lawmakers who have not performed in their constituencies and senatorial districts to do self-evaluation before contesting for the party’s tickets again.

The governor gave the admonition while meeting with the aspirants at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office.

Over 200 aspirants have indicated interest to contest the ticket of the party for the 26 seats of the House of Assembly.

While assuring the aspirants of a level playing field, Akeredolu urged the aspirants not to heat up the polity.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining unity within the party, urging aspirants to let the party’s leadership take charge of the process.

Although the governorship election in Ondo State is not scheduled until 2025, the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly elections will take place in 2023.

“Self assessment is key. Go and assess yourselves. I have come here to appeal to all of you that we don’t all have to run into this election with a huge number.

“Sit down and think. What have you attracted to your constituency or senatorial district as a senator or House of Representatives members?

“If you have not attracted anything, the people will be your judge.”
