Court remands, man, 28 for r@ping, impregnating step-sister in Ondo

A Chief Magistrate Court in Ondo town of Ondo State has remanded a 28-year-old printer, Tolulope Akinyemi, for unlawfully and indecently abusing his 17-year-old sister.

It was alleged that the defendant, Tolulope, had been having s3…xual relations with the victim, who also happens to be his step-sister, and that he had twice impregnated and aborted her pregnancies.

The defendant was arrested and charged with two counts of rape and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace for forcibly having carnal knowledge of his blood sister.

The defendant committed the offence, according to the police prosecutor, Mr Benard Olagbayi, on April 18, 2022.

The charge read in part,” That you, Tolulope Akinyemi on April 18, 2022, at about 10:00 pm at road 4, Valentino quarters, Ondo, Magisterial District did willingly, unlawfully and indecently have carnal knowledge of your 17-year-old blood sister (name withheld) at your backyard and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 358 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

With the plea of the defendant not taken by the court, Olagbayi prayed that the defendant be remanded in Shegede prison, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP.

Anthony Olagundoye, the defendant’s lawyer, did not object to the prosecutor’s request to remand his client.

Mrs Charity Adeyanju, the presiding magistrate, ordered that the case file be submitted to the DPP for advice and adjourned the case till June 14, 2022.

On her part, the victim disclosed that her step-brother had for a while been molesting her as well threatened to kill her, should she report to the affair between them to anyone.
