‘ASUU can’t delay you if you enroll with us’ — Bowen University woos Rema

Bowen University in Iwo, Osun state has openly invited Rema to enroll in the institution after the singer’s comment on the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

ASUU had on February 14 declared a one-month warning strike to protest the non-implementation of its demands by the federal government.

But on March 14, the union extended the industrial action by eight weeks, citing the government’s failure to fully address its demands.

In a tweet on Monday, the ‘Calm Down’ crooner lamented that he has not resumed school since he got admission to study ‘Creative Arts’ at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

He also appealed to the union to suspend its strike.

Reacting to the tweet, Bowen said the ‘Bounce’ singer would not be delayed by ASUU if he becomes its student.

“ASUU can’t delay you if you’re enrolled in Bowen University,” it wrote.

In his response to the tweet, Rema wrote in Pidgin: “UNILAG private university don dey toast me o, I’m blushing omg stop it”.

Bowen University is a private institution owned and operated by the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

Rema had earlier disclosed that his decision to return to school was based on his mother’s insistence that he should get a degree.
