2023: I’ll revamp Nigeria’s economy if elected President – Udom

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State and presidential aspirant in the 2023 general election has assured that he would revamp the country’s economy if elected president.

Emmanuel who spoke when the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) led by its President Mr. Olumide Akpata, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Uyo, stressed that Nigeria needs a leader with ideas on economic policies that would stimulate and drive the economy.

He told the Lawyers that he decided to contest for the presidential seat in 2023 to make a difference, stressing that his economic policies will be to rescue, restore, build and reconstruct the nation’s economy.

He therefore appealed to members of the NBA to support his presidential aspiration and his party the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to take over power in 2023.

Emmanuel stressed: “If all the lawyers can rise up to support the PDP, you can be hopeful of seeing a better Nigeria. Some of us did not enter the race for self-aggrandizement, but we are challenged.

“In developed nations no one campaigns with promises that they will build bridges or roads, but what policies do you have that will stimulate the economy. Like now we need to rescue, build and reconstruct, so it is going to be a major task.

“We are getting to a level where creativity and ideas can take us out of where we are. There must be a total and absolute paradigm shift in subsectors and sectors and there must be something deliberately done to stimulate and encourage the private sector to drive this economy”

The Governor called on the Nigerian Bar Association to sustain the rule of law in the country.

In his remark, the NBA president, Olumide Akpata, applauded the governor for his outstanding performance in the development of the state and for the support of his administration to NBA branches in Akwa Ibom.

He explained that he was in the State to bridge the gap between members of executives of the NBA branches.
