Ghana national team coach, Otto Addo, has said that his team
defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a 2022 FIFA World Cup double-leg
playoff fixture due to luck.
Addo also said that the Black Stars won against Nigeria
because his players adapted very well in the second half during the second-leg
tie at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
Addo’s men qualified for the World Cup by away goal after
playing a 1-1 draw against Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday.
Goals from Thomas Partey and William Troost-Ekong ensured
both teams drew in Abuja.
The Black Stars had drawn 0-0 against the Super Eagles in
Kumasi last Friday.
Speaking after the game, Addo told Joy Sports Ghana: “I am
really delighted, exulted that it was a tough match, we found our way through
we had big problems, especially in the first half.
“And we made some changes, the players adapted very well.
They [Nigeria] had some good chances. Our goalkeeper was there when we needed
him. The defensive line was outstanding. We had a little bit of luck also.”
