Kidnappers kill victim after collecting N1m ransom in Kaduna

Suspected kidnappers have killed a victim after collecting one million from the family.

Recall that suspected bandits had on February 24, 2022 invaded Kasan Dam in Rigachikun community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State and abducted a bride-to-be, Khadija and five others.

During the invasion, a custom officer was shot, but later died in the hospital while receiving treatment.

A resident of the area, Mallam Nasir Ibrahim, who spoke with newsmen on Thursday, noted that since their abduction, the relations of the kidnapped victims have been in negotiations with the bandits who agreed that one million should be paid for their release.

The source said, “We all rallied round, sent the money to them, only to hear on Tuesday night that the male among them had been shot dead.

“They shot him after collecting the payment from the man that took the money to them. All the residents were in shock after hearing the news of his death,” he said.

He said both the bride-to-be and three other victims are still with the bandits as none was released since the payment of ransom.

ASP Mohammed Jalige, Kaduna Police Command Public Relations Officer, did not pick his calls and did not respond to a text message sent to him.
