Insecurity: Niger Police reassures commuters of safety on Minna-Suleja road, others

Niger State Police Command has reassured commuters of adequate security measures put in place on Minna-Suleja road and across areas where there are identified security challenges in the state.

The state Police Command gave the assurance in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun in Minna.

Abiodun said the attention of the Command has been drawn to report alleging that Gawu-Babangida Police Division alerted commuters to be careful along Lambata-Minna road this weekend and that bandits may attack road users.

The Command said categorically that such a report is false, untrue and a piece of fake news, arguing that there was no such report emanating from the said Police Division

The statement insisted, “It is pertinent to state that such report only exist in the figments of the imagination of the author, and it is being suspected to be circulated by the unguided elements to cause panic and unnecessary tension in the public domain”

“The Command wishes to reassure members of the public that adequate security measures have been put in place, not only on Minna-Suleja road but across the areas where there are identified security challenges”

“The Command is not privy to the modus operandi of the hoodlums as regards to reprisals, as there were successes recorded against the bandits/terrorists during their recent escapades in the State and strategies have been put in place to curtail such move”.

The command urged members of the public to ignore such fabricated reports and go about their lawful business without fear of intimidation, molestation or any form of attack.

It added that “the Police and other security agencies are working assiduously to ensure a more secured and safer environment”.
