Federal Medical Centres Bill: Senate President constitutes conference committee


President of the Nigerian Senate, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan on Wednesday constituted a Conference Committee on the Federal Medical Centres bill.


The Conference Committee is expected to harmonize the version of the bill passed at the upper legislative chamber with that of the lower legislative chamber which would be adopted before transmitting the document to the executive for assent.


Lawan made the announcement immediately after the plenary on Wednesday, while he named Senator Yahaya Oloriegbe representing Kwara Central Senatorial district as the Chairman of the Committee.


Members of the Committee include Senators Chukwuka Utazi, Hassan Hadejia, and Adelere Oriolowo.


Others are Senators Sadiq Umar, Akon Eyakenyi and Bulus Amos.


The Conference Committee is expected to meet with its counterpart in the House of Representatives on the Federal Medical Centres (Establishment) Bill, 2021, presently before the National Assembly for consideration and passage.
