Ex-Zamfara Deputy Gov injured in Abuja-Kaduna train attack – APC

 


A former Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala Linan, has been seriously injured in the Abuja-Kaduna train attack by terrorists and has been admitted to a military hospital in Kaduna State.

 

This was confirmed by the state publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau.

 

According to him, the former Deputy Governor was initially abducted by the terrorists during the attack but was rescued by the combined forces of the Department of State Services (DSS) and military operatives during a gun battle with the terrorists.

 

“He was initially abducted but was rescued by joined efforts of the military and DSS operatives and during the process, he sustained various degrees of injuries in the leg as a result of the gun battle,” he added.

 

“However, he is responding very much to treatment at the military hospital in Kaduna State.”

 

It was gathered that a photo of the former deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Ibrahim Wakkala, was released after the attack.

 

It was also reported that the train was conveying hundreds of passengers from Abuja to Kaduna and was attacked by gunmen suspected to be notorious terrorists operating between Katari and the Rijana axis of Kaduna State.

 

The former Deputy Governor was allegedly returning from the APC National Convention which was held on Saturday when the train he boarded was shot during a gun battle between the terrorists and the military.
