Dud cheques: Court adjourns case of Lagos pastor till March 11

The Special Offences Court in Ikeja has adjourned the case of issuance of dud cheques involving self-acclaimed Pastor, Ayodeji Ibrahim Oluokun till March 11.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo adjourned the case between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the pastor on Thursday. The adjournment was meant to engage the written addresses in relation to the no-case submission filed by the pastor.

This was revealed by the statement on the official Facebook page of the commission.

The brief statement read, “Oluokun was arraigned alongside his company, Peak Petroleum Industry Nigeria Limited, by the EFCC on a two-count charge bordering on the issuance of dud cheques to the tune of $1.6 million. He was first arraigned on January 21, 2019.

Oluokun and Peak Petroleum Industry Nigeria Limited, in one of the count charge, issued a Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited Cheque dated 26th June 2014 for the sum of $1,000,000 only payable to GOSL Nigeria Limited, which when presented for payment was dishonoured on the grounds that no sufficient funds were standing to the credit of the account on which cheque was drawn.”
