ASUU insists UTAS payment platform didn’t fail integrity test

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has insisted its University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) did not fail an integrity test.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) conducted the test on the payment platform.

In a statement on Sunday, ASUU President, Prof Emmauel Osodeke recalled that it was carried out on August 10, 2021, at the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The union leader said relevant government agencies and all the end-users in the university system were present.

Osodeke said at the end, all expressed satisfaction with UTAS as a suitable solution for salary payment in the universities.

“This was attested to by the report coming from NITDA then, to the effect that UTAS scored 85 per cent in User Acceptance Test (UAT)”, he noted.

The NITDA Technical Team reported that out of 687 test cases, 529 cases were satisfactory, 156 cases queried and 2 cases cautioned, according to Osodeke.

The President said on its face value, the score was 77 per cent and questioned if the percentage should be categorized as failure.

He confirmed that observations and questions were raised by NITDA to which UTAS technical team has to provide clarification.

“As we speak, our engagement with NITDA over the second round of testing continues.

“NITDA gave a report to the fact that UTAS did well in both the integrity test and user acceptability verification.

“Clearly, 85 per cent and 77 per cent are high class grades in any known evaluation system,” he said.

On Data Centre and hosting of UTAS software, ASUU maintained that these “are clearly outside” its responsibilities.

Osodeke added that ASUU and NITDA were still engaged in the testing process and urged the latter to encourage local content development.
