Deji Aboderin, a former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi has declared his intention to represent Ibadan North East/ Ibadan South East at the House of Representatives in 2023.

Aboderin said he will be contesting on the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

He made the disclosures during a meeting of PDP in Ibadan North-East local government area.

Our correspondent gathered that the meeting was held at Oluyoro Girls Grammer School, Padi in Ibadan on Thursday.

Our correspondent recalls that Aboderin was the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ibadan North East / Ibadan South East federal constituency during the 2019 general elections.

Aboderin who had moved to the ruling PDP in the state has, however, joined the House of Representatives contest.

Aboderin while speaking during his official declaration, assured PDP members that he will not disappoint them if given the mandate to run on the platform of the party.

He added that politics is not about competition, saying that he is not joining the race to compete with anyone.

It was gathered that the current occupant of the position, Abass Adigun was elected on the platform of PDP in 2019.

Ibadan North East / Ibadan South East is one of the fourteen federal constituencies in Oyo State.

The two local government areas which make up the federal constituency are domiciled in Oyo South Senatorial District which is currently being occupied by Dr. Muhammad Kola Balogun.

It was also gathered that Balogun is a younger brother to the current Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Lekan Balogun.
